King Street

Client: Confidential
Stage: Complete

We were engaged to reconfigure and extend a Grade II listed cottage to create a modern home against the backdrop of Arundel’s Gothic cathedral and Norman castle, to provide a collection of contemporary spaces which went beyond ‘the norm’ in terms of ‘pastiche’ design guidelines but not beyond ‘the acceptable’ in the mind of the Conservation Officer.

Crucial to the design was the introduction of light into a previously dark interior, which along with the bespoke structural glass ‘valley’ roof, included glass screens, sliding doors and balustrades to subdivide spaces. The glass roof sitting above the infill extension is supported by a bespoke V-beam which forms a valley gutter externally.
